Vice President – Toronto, Yonge & Eglinton

Burak Jacobson is looking for a seasoned, well-connected research professional who is interested in being a leader within our firm. The ideal candidate would feel comfortable developing new business relationships and rolling up their sleeves to lead the design, execution and analysis of research projects. We are looking for someone who is passionate, hard working, dedicated, collaborative and wants to share ideas at the board room table. The ideal candidate will have the chops to pursue leads and existing contacts within the industry with the goal of developing their own book business and be a part of our senior leadership team. Primary responsibilities include:

  • Leading new business development with the support from existing Senior Leadership team
    • Working with the existing leadership team to identify opportunities to partner with companies we currently do not work with
    • Leveraging existing relationships to identify stakeholders within prospective companies to target for business development
    • Developing in conjunction with senior leadership, customized capabilities presentations that create a compelling argument for partnering with Burak Jacobson


  • Designing and executing quantitative research studies
    • Diagnosing the information needs of clients through discussions and briefs
    • Designing custom research solutions to fulfill client objectives
    • Presenting recommended solutions in a clear, captivating, and visual manner
    • Development of questionnaires that will fulfill the research objectives
    • Creating detailed sample plans to ensure sample composition is on target
    • Partnering and managing 3rd parties (e.g. panel providers)
    • Managing all aspects of project fieldwork
    • Detailed analysis of research data
    • Creating compelling stories, focusing on the “why” & “so what” and recommended actions to be taken
    • Building inspiring reports and presentation documents that tell the story
    • Delegating responsibilities throughout the project to junior staff while maintaining accountability for bringing all the pieces together into cohesive deliverables that knock the client’s socks off.


  • Designing and executing qualitative research studies
    • Making informed recommendations on methodology based on a strong understanding of the breadth of qualitative approaches, along with the relative pros/cons of each
    • Moderating in-depth one-on-one interviews and focus groups
    • Synthesizing qualitative data into compelling reports focused on key takeaways and implications


  • Monitoring the market research landscape
    • Keeping a finger on the pulse of our industry and the evolution of relevant technology
    • Identifying market opportunities for our firm


Skills and experience to succeed:

  • Team player who respects colleagues & clients, yet isn’t afraid to voice their opinion with candor
  • 8+ years experience in the market research industry
    • Either client or supplier side (both certainly considered an advantage)
    • Strong quantitative experience required, qualitative experience an advantage
  • Solid reputation in, and strong connections throughout, the Canadian market research industry
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic small business environment that means wearing different hats depending on the firm’s priorities
  • Proven track record of turning data into impactful insights
  • Ability to multi-task, working on several projects at the same time without sacrificing on quality
  • Strong data visualization and infographic skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Self-motivated; goes beyond the required tasks and finds new opportunities to elevate the firm.
  • Understands the theory behind rigorous statistical analyses, and the ability to personally run such analyses is a strong asset (e.g. regression, MaxDiff, segmentation, etc)
